Some Difficulties have Arisen from Witcher 3’s Update 4.01
The update The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt got from CD Projekt Red has both a positive and a negative side to it. The next-gen version looks stunning because of the ray-traced rendering pipelines, but it unfortunately lead to a drop in performance.
CD Projekt Red released The Witcher 3 update 4.01 early in February, which promised gamers improved visuals and performance. Yet, according to experts who have had the opportunity to test the patch, performance issues remain unresolved.
Eurogamer has conducted a thorough evaluation of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s February update, patch 4.01, and concluded that the pros outweigh the cons. This patch has resulted in fewer crashes, upgraded reflection resolution, and optimized ray-traced global illumination, which improves performance but slightly reduces the ray tracing pipeline quality. The peculiar and problematic part of the update is that while the console’s RT-enabled mode has a performance increase, the dedicated performance mode runs worse than before the 4.01 patch was released.
Despite The Witcher 3 being able to compete with some of the most graphically advanced titles out there, its performance remains an uncertainty. PC gamers are able to get a slight boost in performance due to the game being less reliant on CPU performance than when it first released, alongside the new low-end RTGI setting, giving players more control over their visual and performance quality. However, per Eurogamer’s analysis, the game still has various issues related to performance.
For 2023, CD Projekt Red’s expectations are not tremendous. The only significant addition coming from the studio is an expansion pack for Cyberpunk 2077. It’s plausible that The Witcher 3 could be improved to run better on various types of hardware, yet the company has not provided any more information related to this goal.
CD Projekt Red is working hard to optimize TW3, and have delegated the development of the Witcher game remake to Fool’s Theory, a Polish game developer. This studio’s only single-player game to date is Seven: The Days Long Gone, a stealth RPG. However, they have provided support on other titles such as Baldur’s Gate 3, Divinity: Original Sin 2, and Outriders, giving them considerable experience in this genre.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt can be obtained now for all major consoles, including PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
