Cities in Skyrim Get Mod-Added Tolls
Adding to the large variety of mods available for The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, a modder has released a new package that adds tolls to cities, which gives players more ways to customize their game experience. Ever since it was first released in 2011, Skyrim has been given plentiful mod support on PC, followed by console adaptations, and this mod provides players with exclusive ways to interact with the game.
A Reddit post that discusses the Simple Tolls mod, which adds entrance fees to the nine major cities in Skyrim, has received over 270 upvotes. Whiterun is usually the first that players explore, while the other eight cities feature their own distinct shops, NPCs and aesthetics. Although fees are applicable to many Skyrim-related activities, like taking carriages or giving gold for tips, this mod is needed in order to impose fees to the cities’ entrances.
Reddit user Dankjewel recently provided a Simple Tolls link for the Skyrim Legendary and Special Editions, with the code slightly varying dependent on which version a player has. They noted that the mod was created without any polling; rather, it was made with “native structures,” implying that in-game polling could feel appropriate to the atmosphere. To further capture the essence of Skyrim, Dankjewel stated that the city Thane will get free, permanent access, while the Windhelm fee-collector will be eternally “unsavory.”
The Simple Tolls mod can be downloaded and used on a pre-existing Skyrim save, which suggests that it should not disrupt any saved game files or cause any serious issues. According to Dankjewel, the distinct Skyrim mod is based on events, quests, and trigger boxes in order to mix and reuse dialogue from other parts of the popular Bethesda RPG. Dankjewel outlined the various ways Simple Tolls mod can be helpful in Skyrim, and another gamer suggested to pair it with mods that provide alternate city gateways for a more realistic experience.
The guards at the entrance of Skyrim Riften threaten the player with a fee when they first enter the city, but this mod allows fans to bypass that. This mod affects all the major cities around the expansive world map, yet the smaller villages and settlements, such as Riverwood and Rorikstead, will remain untaxed and potentially more attractive to visit.
The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is now accessible on PC, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and the Xbox Series X/S.
