A Survey for Call of Duty: Warzone 2 Suggests Potential Resurgence of Maps Such as Verdansk and Blackout
Activision has reached out to Call of Duty followers to get a sense of their enthusiasm for the revival of classic maps for Call of Duty: Warzone 2. Call of Duty: Warzone 2 made its debut in the late part of the last year with the new Al Mazrah map. Though Warzone 2 has experienced a few difficulties, the general sentiment appears to be that Al Mazrah is better than Caldera, but not as remarkable as Verdansk.
Players of Call of Duty: Warzone 2 will soon have a freshly added map to compete on. Exact details will be reported next week, but it has already been confirmed that a small map will be available upon the start of Season 2 on February 15. The upcoming small-scale map for Warzone 2 is thought to be of a size comparable to Rebirth Island, though no formal information has been revealed as of yet.
It appears that the newly released small map in Warzone 2 is the prelude of more maps being added to the battle royale. An Activision survey asked Call of Duty aficionados to pick out their top 3 preferred Warzone maps, and legacy maps were also listed as options. Participants could select from either a brand-new map, the Verdansk ’84 map, the Caldera map, the original Verdansk map, or the Blackout map from Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.
Judging by the choices, it appears that most Call of Duty enthusiasts would be more keen on having the classic Verdansk map or the Blackout map return in Call of Duty: Warzone 2. These two maps are the most sought after battle royale maps in Call of Duty , with Verdansk ’84 basically being a variant of the original and the Caldera map not being well-received by the Call of Duty fanbase. Some may opt for an entirely new map, but this comes with the risk of the map not meeting expectations.
At this point, there is no confirmation that any of these maps from previous Call of Duty games will be featured in Call of Duty: Warzone 2. It is possible that Warzone 2 will not add any new maps and merely modify Al Mazrah. Nevertheless, this does demonstrate that Activision is entertaining the idea of bringing some of their older maps to the sequel, which could potentially generate enthusiasm in the fanbase.
